What kind of crazy nuts would race lawnmowers?

Quick Specs:

Typical engine size 10-18HP (before mods:-))
Must use lawnmower frame and engine
Performance- 1/8 mile track with 6 turns in about 15.5-16.5 seconds (averaging 21-23MPH)
Top speeds 30-35mph on track, we have clocked a few at over 50mph on straigh runs (off track)
Lots of fun with little $$

1982 Murray with 14hp ONAN engine, 5 Speed Peerless trans, racing GoKart Rear axle- (1st place in the last 2 seasons)

1994 Crafstman Tractor- He claims it is a Honda 400EX- Its the Halffast Honda- Originally a Briggs 12HP single- Now an 18HP Briggs V2, 6 Speed Transaxle (3rd place in 2003 season)

Mowercross (Ever take it off any sweet jumps?)

Josh's MTD tractor- 19HP Briggs Turbo COol V2 with a Peerlees 6-speed transaxle. 3rd in points for 2004 season.
