Wayne's 2000 Celica GT-S 6-Speed

We fitted Waynes 2000 Toyota Celica GT-S with a C2 Turbo Kit. The kit consists of a Garrett GT28RS Turbo, front mount intercooler, and stainless steel plumbing for the intake and exhaust. The kit required some modifications for a perfect fit, but other than that it is a great system. The ball bearing Garrett Turbo starts to spool around 1500RPM, with full boost by 2,000! The engine managemnet is handled with a APEX-i ECM, and Wayne performed the tuning himself. It drives, performs, and looks excellent.

After the turbo was installed, it only took 2,000 miles to reak havoc on the stock clutch. A heavy duty RPS clutch was put in over a resurfaced stock flywheel. While we had the transmission out, we installed a Quaife Limited Slip Differential (LSD).

Steve's 1999 Civic Si B16A2

Steve's Civic is equipped with a Turbonetics F-Max Turbo kit. The turbo is a Garrett T3/T4 Hybrid with a TO4B V-trim compressor and a T3 .48 A/R turbine with the Stage 2 turbine wheel. This is a serious turbo for such a small engine, (probably overkill actually), it does not produce useful boost until near 4000rpm. Its a wild ride once the boost comes in though! This is a 9psi turbo system and tuning is provided by an MF2 secondary injector driver and a MSD Boost Timing Computer. The MF2 uses a 3BAR MAP sensor and RPM inputs to calculate the desired injector pulse. We dialed the system in using a wide-band O2 tester. We also replaced the Civic's Stock clutch with an ACT X-treme pressure plate and a street disc. This is a very streetable clutch set, but the holding power is outstanding.

We ended up installing better pistons and rods after a the #3 piston broke a ring land. I guess the high compression and 9psi of boost was a little more than Honda had planned for the little 1.6 liter! We upgraded to Arias .020" over pistons, Eagle forged connecting rods w/ ARP rod bolts, ACL race bearings, and ARP cylinder head studs.

I did not build this car, Jeremy and his dad built the system themselves. I just provided some info and a few parts (the turbo, oil scavenge pump).

The plan: Engine mounts are finished- they will position the engine 3-7/8" back and 1-3/4" lower than the stock location.
